berlin based arttu has been dropping his dusty fat beats across numerous techno labels including philpot, clone and 4lux for a few years but it was 2016�s track �hoodies� on arttu�s own imprint cyblo that caught the attention of accidental label boss matthew herbert (and which remains firmly in herbert�s record bag). arttu was invited onto the accidental jnr roster and has delivered a chunk of techno with so much swing it made donkey kong blush. arttu takes the most simple of jazz bass hooks and loops across a rigid kick, it�s when those hats kick in that the groove goes fucking wild. the presence of us native roberto q ingram on vocals brings a full detroit gangster flavour to the party. initially arttu and roberto had an idea to record a simple and sweaty track with roberto on the mic and arttu at the control of some dusty old machines. the result, �bass trakk� is exactly that: roberto dropping lyrics over a raw beat and a massive bassline. the ep is rounded off with a deep bit of techno �debris� with all the trappings of the darkest hour of a berlin winter in which it was recorded.

makeness, the brainchild of kyle molleson, returns with his white label . off the back of a minor science remix being played out by the likes of jamie xx, ben ufo, avalon emerson and more last summer, the ep marks the producer�s most dance oriented ep yet. the roots of temple works date back to the producer�s time in leeds, which played an important part in both this release and his wider love for dance music. while there, molleson recorded a friend s percussion project, g-bop orchestra, at an old textile mill in holbeck, known as temple works. the vast openness of the space made for the best natural reverb and is weaved throughout the title track. it was also in leeds where the producer discovered cosmic slop, an all welcoming party with a sound system built by founder and resident dj, tom smith, with donations going towards raising money for local charity map (music and arts production). slop�s intimate and flawless sounding room played a huge part in cementing makeness� love for club spaces.

next up on hell yeah is -the most balearic record i have ever released- according to label boss & it comes from japan s disco don max essa which features a four part track, themes from the hood, the cad, & the lovely, on one side of vinyl, and two more on the flip. essa was born matthew bruce and the uk artist has now been releasing his blissed out beats on labels like feel music, electric minds, bear funk and is it balearic? recording for a decade. a prolific producer whose big hits like panorama suite/uptown vibration (is it balearic?) from 2010 have long been in the hell yeah boss s record bag, essa first approached the label with a bunch of tracks. a good correspondence alchemy ensued and together the artist and label decided to put out the most timeless 12inch possible. the exquisitely ambitious themes from the hood, the cad, & the lovely is almost 12 minutes of serene ambient synth work that is like a soundtrack to a hot summer s day. heavenly chords sound just like a breathy female vocal and as they come and go, one finger piano tinkles add real emotional beauty and gentle twinkles shimmer in the distance. half way through lazy drums propel things along at a loveably lethargic pace and immediately place you on the beach. on the flip, saguaro is just as organic and beautiful, but has tumbling drums, wooden hits and soft claps as well as essa s magical synth work all bathing your soul in warm rays. b2 buran chime is perfectly horizontal and expansive, with tinkling triangles, angelic chords and scattered hits and harpsichord sounds all radiating effusively. this is timeless music that will calm busy minds now and forever.

amsterdam producers and good friends kaap and scott franka have come together to start a new label and live act: working titles. kaap is best known as the label boss of tape cassette label yield, scott just debuted with his first 12� on quartet series. together they perform primarily hardware based live sessions. for their label they improvise, jam and record to press these takes only on vinyl. the idea is to capture the real, raw and authentic improvised moments as soon as possible after they happen, hence the name working titles. this first vinyl release features the wt001 and wt002 outtakes on one disc. these sessions were recorded by the pair in an abandoned cabin in the woods in the south of holland, surrounded by nature.

albuquerque s plastik people continues to be the leading bastion for hard swinging garage house in the deep south. this time label boss marc cotterell has linked up with dominic balchin as tuff vibes to bring the classically informed heat to the people who just cant get enough of that warm, soulful sound. leave me cold does the absolute opposite of its title thanks to the oodles of piano, organ and more melodic flexing besides. jazzy 99 is a more accurate guide with its sassy sax licks and vibing chords, and then rhythm of the vibe pushes the tempo up for a purely dancefloor minded workout.

the foundation of this dub album was created by some of the finest sessions musicians ever to grace the studios of 1960s & 70s jamaica. their instruments were the cornerstone to countless dub lps that began to surface in the early 70s and continued on into the 80s creating a whole new genre of music. as they did back in the early days of dub, the kingston all stars gathered together in kingston, jamaica at mixing lab studios and laid down a series of riddims that would lay the groundwork for what comes next: the singers. both greenwich farm rasta, prince alla, and falsetto, cedric myton of the the congos, contribute vocals to the album but half of the riddims on this lp are, to date, unreleased, and have yet to be voiced. in essence, this album is a sneak peak into upcoming releases. the style of riddims that were created during these sessions range from the cumbia influenced reyes dub to the ethiopian jazz flavored kebra dub that pays tribute to the african sound system, kebra ethiopia sound and shows the wide variety of influences that fuel these musicians. tracks like dub ova combine ansel collins keyboard work with hux browns infectious grooves to create a funky rhythm that you have not heard the last of.

the foundation of this dub album was created by some of the finest sessions musicians ever to grace the studios of 1960s & 70s jamaica. their instruments were the cornerstone to countless dub lps that began to surface in the early 70�s and continued on into the 80�s creating a whole new genre of music. as they did back in the early days of dub, the kingston all stars gathered together in kingston, jamaica at mixing lab studios and laid down a series of riddims that would lay the groundwork for what comes next: the singers. both greenwich farm rasta, prince alla, and falsetto, cedric myton of the the congos, contribute vocals to the album but half of the riddims on this lp are, to date, unreleased, and have yet to be voiced. in essence, this album is a sneak peak into upcoming releases. the style of riddims that were created during these sessions range from the cumbia influenced reyes dub to the ethiopian jazz flavored kebra dub that pays tribute to the african sound system, kebra ethiopia sound and shows the wide variety of influences that fuel these musicians. tracks like dub ova combine ansel collins keyboard work with hux browns infectious grooves to create a funky rhythm that you have not heard the last of.
